9:00am-5:00pm For over 30 years, WestCOP's mission has been to help low income residents fight poverty through programs, which foster self-sufficiency. Greenburgh/Elmsford Community Action Program's primary target group had traditionally been low-income persons including women, minority populations, ex-offenders, substance abusers, displaced homemakers, dislocated workers and youths. Historically, counseling, employment and training have been an intricate part of the services provided by WestCOp's Community Action Programs. Greenburgh/Elmsford CAP serves about 2,000 low-income individuals annually through its various programs. ServicesFOOD PANTRY: Distribution of food packages for residents in need, including the homeless, seniors, disabled etc. INFORMATION AND REFERRAL: Provision of knowledge of community resources and agencies. EMERGENCY SERVICES: Assessment and services by CAP or other community resources. INTERVENTION SERVICES: Support to assist individuals and families through difficult circumstances. HEALTH INTER-DEPENDENCE: Residents and workers develop a contratual agreement for incremental assessment, assistance, referrals and services. SELF-SUFFICIENCY: Residents establishes lon and short term goals and is provided advocacy, counseling and referrals to achieve employment and self-sufficiency. EDUCATION/JOB INFORMATION CENTER: Provides assistance with job search, resume writing, career planning, interviewing skills, and educational training. WESTCHESTER PUTNAM LEGAL SERVICES: Provides legal assistance for matter other than criminal cases, family court cases or fee generation cases. VICTIMS ASSISTANCE SERVICES: Provides crisis counseling and support services to victims of violent crimes, domestic violence and other assaults. GREENBUGH OPEN DOOR: Provides out patient services including assessments, individual and group counseling, vocational readiness and other services for chemically dependent adults. PROJECT SUCCESS: A job pre-employment training program in construction trades and business communities. TAXPAYER EDUCATION SERVICES: Information for wage earners about bebefits of the earned income tax credit, tax preparation referrals and legal assistance.
